Pathway 1: ICT Qualification Closely Related to 262112

A bachelor’s degree or higher with an ICT major closely related to ICT security duties. Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience completed within the past 10 years, or 4 years at any point in your career.

Pathway 2: ICT Qualification Not Closely Related

Bachelor’s Degree or Higher with an ICT major with some relationship to duties involving security. 4 or more years of work experience can occur at any stage.

Pathway 3: Non-ICT Qualification

Bachelor’s Degree or Higher, however in a non ICT field such as Engineering, networking, or information systems with lowICT content. Minimum 6 years of relevant ICT security experience. ACS RPL report required.

Pathway 4: No Tertiary Qualification

No formal qualification. Minimum 6 to 8 years of relevant ICT security experience depending on certifications held.ACS RPL report mandatory. Vendor certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, or CompTIA Security Plus support the application.

ACS RPL Report Structure for ANZSCO 262112

The RPL pathway is the most common route for ICT Security Specialist applicants who hold non-ICT qualifications. The ACS RPL report for 262112 has two components.

Key Areas of Knowledge

KAoK responses must align to ACS CBOK categories relevant to ICT security duties. Focus areas for security reports arenetwork security, risk assessment, security architecture, incident response, compliance framework. All reports require named tools and frameworks to be stated. E.g. Firewalls, SIEM systems, ISO 27001, NIST, Essential Eight. Vague reports, without naming tools and frameworks will be returned for further information.

Two Project Reports

Each of the project reports are on separate ICT security projects. Please detail scope, role and responsibilities, security tools and frameworks used, specific threat or vulnerability that was addressed, actions taken by the applicant, and end result. It is essential that 2 different ICT security projects are presented. General IT support projects which do not include a direct security component will not be accepted toward 262112 tasks.
